Work-life balance

We have a number of policies in place that foster a balance between your work life and your home life. Wherever we can, we work to accommodate flexible working arrangements.

Competitive remuneration

We review salaries against market rates annually.

Professional development

Our people are very much our most important asset. The quality of the services we deliver to New Zealanders depends on the quality of the work of our people. That’s why we’re committed to providing ongoing development opportunities for professional competence. We can provide you with a range of ongoing learning opportunities and help you develop your career to achieve your goals. Personal development plans are produced annually.

Conferences and Presentations

Confident people are go getters.  We encourage our people to present at conferences and learn from others as well as leading the technical and management development of the transportation planning profession.

Equal employment opportunities

We are an equal employment opportunity employer and encourage diversity within our people.

Flu vaccinations

We encourage healthy living and provide a free flu vaccination to all our people each year, before winter.

Induction

All new staff attend our induction course.

Community and team building

Holding a position of responsibility on a committee related to the transportation planning, engineering or strongly community focused role is all strongly encouraged.

Employee wellbeing and assistance programmes

You can access confidential and independent help with any issues affecting your work and/or personal life. This gives you up to two free sessions with a trained counsellor.

Workplace health and safety

We are committed to ensuring systems are in place that provide for a safe and healthy workplace for staff, clients and individuals.

Annual leave

Permanent, full-time employees get four weeks annual leave per year.

KiwiSaver

Provided you meet the criteria, we’ll automatically enrol you in the KiwiSaver Scheme (the government retirement savings scheme) when you start working for us. This is required by law. Let us know if you’re already a KiwiSaver member when you accept our offer of employment.

Public holidays

New Zealand celebrates 11 public holidays a year.  These public holidays are observed on the actual date. However, if Christmas and New Year holidays fall on a weekend, the following Monday and Tuesday of each are granted as holidays.  If Waitangi Day and ANZAC Day fall on a weekend, there is no alternative holiday.

International candidates

We are a professional employer and this means we can help with the immigration process for international candidates or ex-pats returning from overseas to start work with us. This may include support with relocation.

Sick leave

You will be eligible for 5 working days sick leave a year on full pay that accumulates if not taken.  This leave may be accessed for caring responsibilities of immediate family or household members.

Graduate recruitment programme

We have an active professional development programme that helps graduates achieve their professional competence.

Business Opportunity

Our relatively small size means we are very nimble and open to new business opportunities including suggestions from our people.
